“… Creating a new man, a worker aware of their historical responsibilities and their effective and creative participation in the social transformations. Hopefully fulfill this desire through knowledge increasingly real of the needs of the country, the definition of our development’s project and the actual work done at school institutions”.
Paulo Freire
In contemporary times, from the sociocultural context of Latin America, to think the university space forces us to update this debate, softening the questions in debate between equal and different aiming to “social reinvent” and appealing to the freirean legacy of práxis-hope applied to another possible construction.
The Paulo Freire Institute of Investigations of Rosario acts in the field of Social Sciences, Ethics and Alternative Practices and was procedurally building itself of a set of educative practices between teachers, investigators and university students at Universidad Nacional de Rosario, especially of the Faculty of Law. Were the doubts regarding social conflicts that took the researchers to problematize them and problematize themselves (regarding themselves and the performance they chosen) in workshops, graduation and interdisciplinary post-graduation’s works.
Readings are developed as a participative place “between” educators and students, such as, for example, of Chair III (Basic Cycle), of “Introduction to Philosophy-Social Sciences” and of the Seminar “The Professional Profile in a Social Ethics” (Higher Cycle), which are instances of formal work in a Faculty of Law – of a public university, that belong to a march in search of the felt-thought (in Portuguese, Paulo Freire used to use “sentipensadas”, a neologism, to refer to the word “felt-thought”) tasks in an educative political project, in terms of Paulo Freire.
The Institute of Rosario close itself of tentative where re-exhibit “the obvious” that oppresses, enslaves, dehumanizes, permits to recreate a bond not necessarily encapsulate in a determined order given by unique thought. Learn with others to say the lived word. Meetings, a certain dialogic listening that, in everyday life, to put it in question, affects and elucidates dreams for the construction of rights and solidarity.
In this sense, the propositions of the Institute will go in search of the construction of a research paradigm in the great field of Social Sciences, related to the thinking styles and action of our people, having as modality the “participant research” as a way of contact it socially to the daily.
The novelty that the Paulo Freire Institute of Investigations of Rosario brings for the second UniFreire Bulletin is that it is realizing its fifth edition of the “Interdisciplinary Course of Formation for Formers – Voices and Places, as the theme Social educatives Praxis in a Critic Latin-American Context. The course is organized specifically by the library of the Institute (which was launched officially on August 14 of 2012) and coordinated by the teachers of the university.
The first edition of the course (which since always had three formative modules by edition), in 2007, had as theme for the modules: “For another professional formation” (Lilians Lopez, Isabel Hernández and Geraldine Gahn treated of how to elucidate the social constitution of the individual in the contemporaneity, about the subjective of the historical individual, about what worries and occupies in the educational practice); “Rights and education” (LAURA Rodriguez, Marianela Pierobon and Alejandro Garcia treated about which are the educative and juridical practices that bond us and what place we stand, as well as the notions of education-citizenship-participation); “Alternative practices to legislation (Susana Chiarotti, Juan Pablo Angelone, Julieta Urmeneta and Pablo Mengascini did a contribution to political philosophy in Human Rights, also talked about the emergent social movements and about a perspective of popular education).
In 2008 the edition also accounted with a workshop: “What we want to say when we talk about educative practices, participation and human rights?” and its sub-modules were: “The educational institution in question” (by Lilians López/P.F.I. Rosario, Patricia Tardío/Popular Library “Gastón Gori”, Graciela Dasso/Director of initial level school, Pablo Kraus/Psychologist, tutor of middle school and Mari Cruz Lago Pérez/Vice-director of primary level), “Right to education” (with María Teresa Basilio, from Universidad Nacional de Luján, when happened the workshop) and “Alternative Practices in the social-educative field” (with the psychologist and professor Cecilia Galcerán, Oscar Lúpori/Chair III “Introducción a la Filosofía y Ciencias Sociales” and, in the occasion, Prof. Dr. JASON F. MAFRA, who coordinated at the time Universitas Paulo Freire – UNIFREIRE, Paulo Freire Institute of Brazil)
In 2009 and 2011, the modules were coordinated by Prof. Lilians M. López and co-coordinated by young educators of IPFreire Rosario ( as usually self-titling itself the institution in writing). In 2009 the thematic for the actions were “I – The education institution. For another professional profile. Dialogicity ‘between’ and with Paulo Freire”, “II – Right – Education – Investigation. Right to education: The Citizens – How and Who?” and “III – Alternative Practices to Social-educative field”.
The year of 2011 accounted with the following modules: “The Educational Institution. Challenges facing the requirements of global reordering”, “Practices of formation of professors of inter-levels, about the gender’s perspective” and “Knowledge and perspectives – Symbolic violence, Rights, Dialogicity in and with Paulo Freire”.
The three modules of the course in 2013 happened and will happen in the following dates: June 17, August 01 and 08 and October 25 (in this date there will be a collective assessment). The standard schedule for that they happen is at 17h30, making a total of 30 hours of formation, coordinated by Prof. Lic. Lilians M. López. The three modules will be held in the own faculty. The thematic undertaken by them will be: “Dialogues – Knowledge and Perspectives”, “Logical and imaginary in schooling”, “Dialogical praxis coordinating School / University”.
